I found some time to get back to some card making. I saw a techniques somewhere...I honestly can't remember where...of coloring and embossed image with copics so I thought I'd give it a try. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is what I came up with.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNo17H0sD-CgdMkq3swwZeV6yjn1iRbt_d3-yy1kGYWYLX1iOKI31Xun5FN4DvHxJUMl9hnWHsto6VVt79hR2DYn8f-kVZh08IvZ-q4K7yLWvpeshYfDqiz0HyY7DsnwMNR5Dr_5QkkeU/s1600/Thank+you+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNo17H0sD-CgdMkq3swwZeV6yjn1iRbt_d3-yy1kGYWYLX1iOKI31Xun5FN4DvHxJUMl9hnWHsto6VVt79hR2DYn8f-kVZh08IvZ-q4K7yLWvpeshYfDqiz0HyY7DsnwMNR5Dr_5QkkeU/s400/Thank+you+card.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm not really in love with this card. I think maybe it needs a border around the raised panel in a coordinating color. Hmm...I wasn't going to try this technique again but now I'm rethinking it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm entering this card the following challenge:</div>

I've always loved this stamp and while it seemed really intimidating to try and color it, it was actually easier than I thought it would be. There are lots of little lines to guide where the shading should go. I think it's a pretty good effect, but I definitely need more practice. I'm sure my Mom will love it.<br />

CR84FN has a color challenge on using pink, orange and yellow. They are very festive, spring-like colors so I'm hoping they'll chase away the winter blues. It is spring after all!<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGm32SsaVURLpXJq0aRWdUINP9Z3zEQdNKTsly5-ozmtjPCsgvkINpDd8u-BKhp-UakEFJQRnzxjT4PTtccU6ZUeDuyfiemlPaOA1r-43iwsNhRQjt2NdckFjaY-F6ne6TF4PVsUz-sKM/s1600/CR84FN50+Graphic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGm32SsaVURLpXJq0aRWdUINP9Z3zEQdNKTsly5-ozmtjPCsgvkINpDd8u-BKhp-UakEFJQRnzxjT4PTtccU6ZUeDuyfiemlPaOA1r-43iwsNhRQjt2NdckFjaY-F6ne6TF4PVsUz-sKM/s320/CR84FN50+Graphic.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is the card I created. It's not what I originally had planned. I have some paper with pink, orange and yellow flowers in a circle that I planned to use as a jumping off point. However, when I got the sentiment and background finished I found that the circle was too big and you couldn't see the Thank in the sentiment. Oh well, I think it still looks OK without the flower. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I really love a lot of the creations that their design team does. Who knew that so many beautiful cards could be made with using only two colors? One color really because I never seem to think that white counts :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTcYrSk2Scx8bP5yeEzybcpU-w0ElvVfh68BCHgoTSOf2zLH9GL4D8WfaQoZFq4xobpJspYcYLiqoaXCnl7UY0koifwf6Gwze3a9BQtp6GDhmYkzqieddaBupB-pOSt22PHQrD9uISyyY/s1600/In_yellow_white.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTcYrSk2Scx8bP5yeEzybcpU-w0ElvVfh68BCHgoTSOf2zLH9GL4D8WfaQoZFq4xobpJspYcYLiqoaXCnl7UY0koifwf6Gwze3a9BQtp6GDhmYkzqieddaBupB-pOSt22PHQrD9uISyyY/s1600/In_yellow_white.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I found it difficult to limit myself to just two colors but I think I did pretty good. Of course I made a Thank You card. Actually, I made 4 of them. Each is slightly different; the pearls were in a different spot and a couple had a different yellow shape.<br />
<br />

I've got a litter of 4 newborn kittens right now so I've been busy <strike>taking care of</strike> staring endlessly at them. AARCS has recently started rescuing more cats so I might make some cat thank you cards in the future.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/2012/03/play-date-cafe-pdcc122.html">Play Date Cafe</a> has a Charcoal, Ash, Butter color challenge going on this week<br />

I'm behind on my card making so this one is likely to arrive late. I've been thinking that I need to start working on next year's cards now so that my family can finally get a card on time! I guess it's the thought that counts though right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR284YUXERHbRBogSetLcP8zGXgo-3W5gHstaP9qk7L3VPDjF_gCEHOB87e8eZq-D-1l33XTcwFR8tEiRX7gYV4phQK0hAymGY9MbYmv8HtRX_Biz1mLTpZiLi7y77ViG2hlf7W4PByZQ/s1600/Kevin's+Birthday+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR284YUXERHbRBogSetLcP8zGXgo-3W5gHstaP9qk7L3VPDjF_gCEHOB87e8eZq-D-1l33XTcwFR8tEiRX7gYV4phQK0hAymGY9MbYmv8HtRX_Biz1mLTpZiLi7y77ViG2hlf7W4PByZQ/s400/Kevin's+Birthday+Card.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This is another fun image from <a href="http://www.bugaboostamps.com/">Bugaboo Stamps</a> There are a whole lot of colors going on with this card but I think it looks pretty cheerful. I added a bit of bling to the penguin's eye and cherry on the cupcake. I also put some glossy accents on the cupcake icing, but it doesn't show up well in the picture.<br />
<br />
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:<br />

I thought I'd try it when I made a birthday card for my Niece. I think it's pretty nice for a first try and it's much nicer in real life than in the pic. I stamped the chartreuse in a circle inside the card and then stamped and embossed the Happy Birthday in silver. I sprayed the front of the card with glimmer mist and it's very sparkly.<br />

Unfortunately my oldest brother's Birthday is first and inevitably I never had a card for him in time. By the time I hit the February Birthdays people usually get their card before their birthday.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Although I *did* talk to my brother on his Birthday and wish him a happy one, I still figured a belated Birthday card would be cute. This is what I came up with. The inside says "I missed your birthday"</div>

I'm not sure what my fascination is with monster stamps but I seem to love them all. Plus these two are so cute! I wanted to try a round shaped card and I think this was a pretty good first attempt. I wish it was a bit bigger, but this is the largest die that will fit in my Cuttlebug.<br />

I love the Bugaboo Gus images and thought this one would make a fun card. He's probably not going to like it as much as I do, but that's OK. At least I didn't put 'old fart' on it or something like that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjah4qW3lfzIQ1WUMGORuwMixzTudgip_-ZiGadaFAfCVviGmsQgUwSp7ounyo1uR-ciU4i8vY8TJYf9v34_Kfk96CWCoFv0YdLUxLDIxl-F3ku1P3AbEl7XK0zD92YAd8HyDsT334XFFM/s1600/Dad's+birthday+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjah4qW3lfzIQ1WUMGORuwMixzTudgip_-ZiGadaFAfCVviGmsQgUwSp7ounyo1uR-ciU4i8vY8TJYf9v34_Kfk96CWCoFv0YdLUxLDIxl-F3ku1P3AbEl7XK0zD92YAd8HyDsT334XFFM/s640/Dad's+birthday+card.jpg" width="524" /></a></div>

<br />
Now that I've uploaded the card I think the front looks like of plain. I feel t needs a sentiment on there somewhere? I was just going to write inside but may rethink this.<br />

This is by far the most complicated card I've ever made. It took me quite some time to figure out what I wanted in all of the numerous spots to fill and how I wanted to personalize it just for them. Of course I couldn't just take a standard trifold card size either. A couple of the panels weren't the right size for what I wanted so I adjusted the over all measurements. And the layers! There's layer upon layer. The front has eight and a couple are even popped up. I most like the bride and groom hearts on the front. It's difficult to tell but they are stamped and heat embossed in a sparkly lace design. The Celtic crosses are just for me :)<br />
<br />
I love how this turned out and they loved it as well. It's not something I'm going to be doing very often, but I really enjoyed making something so special for such a special occasion<br />

chance to actually make any cards in the past little while. Now that I'm
(almost) finished I can get back to creating! There are a lot of birthdays in
my family in January and February so that'll be my focus for the next little
while.<br />
<br />
I created this card for my brother. It's bright and cheerful, but stills
seems gender neutral to me. <br />

It seems that all of a sudden it was time to make some Christmas cards and tags and now it's January. Now I'm back to finding challenges to provide some inspiration. The Catch the Bug blog is still one of my favorites. I love the Bugaboo images as well. They had a sale on in December so you'll see a lot more of their images on my cards :) Today's card has been created with Bugaboo's 3 Hearts digital stamp. CtB has a sketch challenge and I'm all about Valentine's Day cards right now so this is what I came up with.<br />
<br />

I ended up making two cards slightly different. I actually made about 5 of the Thanks panels before I decided on these two. Sometimes it hard to only use what's in my, ever growing, stash. I'm still not 100% satisfied with the result, but I think they look better in person than in the picture.<br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">I've seen so many pretty easel cards and decided that I needed to give one a try. It was a friend's Birthday so I thought this was the perfect time to make something a little fancier. </span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">The starting point was that I wanted it to include orange. I picked the orange background paper first and then worked around that. I wasn't sure what color I was going to go with for the card base. Black was too Halloween-ish, brown didn't seem festive enough and lighter colors just weren't right either. Then I saw this blue shiny paper and knew I'd found a match. I tried all kinds of new techniques on this card too. I used a Spellbinder's die to make the card itself. I really like the shaped card base. I'm sure there will be more of these in my future. I also wanted to try making some colored paper using distress inks spritzed with water. I'm sure this technique has a name, but I don't know what it is. Anyway, that's how I made the paper that the Happy Birthday is stamped, then embossed on. Then the card needed a bit of bling. I won a prize pack at the Member's Event at Scrapbooker's Paradise. Included in that, amongst lots of other goodies, was some glimmer mist. I sprayed some on the flowers and I have to say I'm in love with glimmer mist!</span></div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO80uJS93Yy7e7nwP5WZyUOV_Vq7EXrGusmrXgpurwAhj0jlTLYp-lqP2feaCMyW4xJbp0W2DyEzCmnz6OPYuFmuGwHv7yKVdsYIBsz4YS5okTfeK2b2fqJqraglSVywmRIdzZoYdxJ1U/s1600/Jenna%2527s+BD+Card02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO80uJS93Yy7e7nwP5WZyUOV_Vq7EXrGusmrXgpurwAhj0jlTLYp-lqP2feaCMyW4xJbp0W2DyEzCmnz6OPYuFmuGwHv7yKVdsYIBsz4YS5okTfeK2b2fqJqraglSVywmRIdzZoYdxJ1U/s640/Jenna%2527s+BD+Card02.jpg" width="379" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">So that's it for this card. Lots of playing around and I think it turned out pretty well. My friend liked it and that is all that mattered.</span></div>

My favorite local scrap booking store had a members sale and I stocked up on a lot of goodies. I also have a bit of any an ebay addiction. I told myself after the member's sale that I need a monthly budget and I can't exceed it. Then I went on ebay. Oh well, a person has to have a hobby right?<br />
<br />
Today I made this card. I used a new Tim Holtz stamp and distress ink as well as a Fiskar's punch that I recently bought. I guess that justifies my new purchases!<br />

Birthday cards. For some people who may read the blog and see their card before their Birthday. That just wouldn't be right!<br />
<br />
I made this card for my nephew who will be 13 this year. I know he won't see the blog and it happens that <a href="http://scrapbookersparadise.blogspot.com/">Scrapbooker's Paradise</a> has a challenge this week that this card will fit into.<br />

13 is a hard age. A lot of images are too young, but on the other side a regular old masculine card is to adult...and doesn't have a 'cool' factor. I thought an edgy, graffiti inspired card would be kind of cool. I hope he likes it!<br />

Times they are a changin! I wanted to do some card making this morning and had an idea all worked out in my head so out of bed we all got.<br />
<br />
Guess what? It's another Thank You card. For those new to this blog let me explain the ongoing creation of Thank You card after Thank You card. I foster for <a href="http://albertaanimalrescuecrew.com/">AARCS</a> and they send out hand made Thank You cards to all people that donate. They are a great organization who relies entirely on donations to make ends meet. Without them, my current foster puppy would surely not be alive today. If you are interested, you can read more about Willie <a href="http://rupertswish.blogspot.com/">here</a>. Now on to card making....<br />
<br />
I've been wanting to try the faux mosaic tile technique posted by Kim on the <a href="http://scrapbookersparadise.blogspot.com/2011/08/tutorial-tuesday-faux-mosaic-tiles.html">Scrapbooker's Paradise </a>blog. This is the card I came up with. I think it looks better in the picture than in real life. The yellow trees show up better. I need a bit of work on my blending technique on the background but I think it's pretty good for a first try. <br />

The other day I went to Home Depot and ended up at a craft store next door and managed to talk myself into some new Halloween paper. Weird how these things happen!<br />

I find the color in the photo a bit off. The background paper is much more plumb color than I think it looks in the picture.<br />

I saw a new (to me) technique using glitter at the local scrapbooking store and decided that I must try it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwyshr2jCcEhAWNaWsrRRHbsns8DUJSFx8PopbfJVNUUKps6ZEpNU76AKekKU5VS0QTiQfrVRLID1goqTkAgtHgDy-fPMWgXy1SVCAgHCtHvK_FFCfgbNWQJzZ2KDisLTh7oVo3kI6ugU/s1600/Glitter+Thank+You.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwyshr2jCcEhAWNaWsrRRHbsns8DUJSFx8PopbfJVNUUKps6ZEpNU76AKekKU5VS0QTiQfrVRLID1goqTkAgtHgDy-fPMWgXy1SVCAgHCtHvK_FFCfgbNWQJzZ2KDisLTh7oVo3kI6ugU/s320/Glitter+Thank+You.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The bottom piece has the glitter and I think the dog paws are really cute. It was my first try, to it's a bit rough, but I still think it turned out OK. I also really like this dog stamp and since I'm making Thank You cards for an animal rescue it's likely to show up in quite a few of my cards.<br />
<br />

CDAC has a progressive challenge going on with free images distributed every two weeks. To continue in the challenge you have to use at least one of the images to move to the next round. This round's theme is back to school. Not having children, inspiration is a bit of a challenge for me, but this is the 'card' I came up with. <br />

I've been wanting a punch around the page and since there was a sale I figured it was a good time. I was anxious to try it out and came up with this card. I've also been wanting to use this ribbon. <br />
